Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia - surrounding muscles, bones and joints. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem, such as chronic muscle pain, injury rehabilitation. 


The massage therapist will move at a slower pace and use lighter pressure.In a relaxation massage, there is less emphasis on working out chronic underlying muscle tension and during a relaxation massage you just want to drift away and feel good. less

What is Movement Therapeutics ? 

Movement therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the philosophy and practice of  Movement Instruction, Meditation, Movement re-patterning + Breath Guidance : all specifically intended to affect the mind, body, spirit, emotions and human energy field in one way or another. 

Unlike a standard yoga class, Movement therapy sessions are conducted in one-on-one setting.  

“Meditation is to be aware of every thought and of every feeling, never to say it is right or wrong, but just to watch it and move with it. In that watching, you begin to understand the whole movement of thought and feeling. And out of this awareness comes silence.”

Movement Therapeutics is a way of  1-on-1 guidance to consciously help bringing  the Body, Mind and Heart back to a place of wholeness. 

The practice is a way of healing through guided stretching, meditative breathing & communicative awareness.

In a private session, Kylie Hicken ( Our in hOMe ERYT + Movement Therapist) will :

  • Guide the client through a series of supported & passive movements based on where the body and mind are presently. 
  • Help to explore range of motion,  mobility and to hold space while facilitating the client's natural release.
  • Use various techniques involving myofascial stretching or rolling, thai tapotement techniques, meditative breath guidance, props from bolsters to aerial hammock to create healing that is unique to each being. 

Together these actions result in a comprehensive experience that relieves tension, improves blood flow/circulation, boosts the immune system and creates an energetically balanced state of being. 

Movement Therapeutics is typically done with a mat on the floor or a table can be used as well, both client and practitioner are dressed in comfortable clothing allowing ease of movement during the session.
