Float into Fall

Transitioning into Fall is a time for reflection

Become mindful of the ways you m o v e + l i v e this season

Sharing our favorite tips to transition into fall with ease

1. GO O U T S I D E

Especially if you’re located in FL - Take the time to get outside - 10 minutes is plenty of time to soak up some vitamin D + explore the world around you. Use the extra sunlight of the day to enjoy breathing in fresh air and being present in the natural world. Bike- Walk - Kayak - SUP there are so many ways in FL to exercise outside while having fun!

2. F O C U S + F LOW

Bring your awareness to all that you do + let your expressions be mindful. As you wash the dishes - drive your car - do all daily activities. Can you cultivate a state of presence while doing so?

When we allow ourselves to be completely immersed in a flow state ( In positive psychologyflow, also known colloquially as being in the zone, is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does, and a resulting loss in one's sense of space and time.)

3. C R E A T E

Take time to do what feels good for you! Create art - music - movement - Take the time to move your body or utilize your brain in a way that makes you feel good.

4. B R E A T H E

Sit somewhere you are comfortable and start to deepen your breathing..start to notice the way each breath fills and empties the body.

Conscious Breathing Technique

To start, put one hand on your belly and the other on your chest as in the belly breathing exercise.

  1. Take a deep, slow breath from your belly, and silently count to 4 as you breathe in.

  2. Hold your breath, and silently count from 1 to 6

  3. Breathe out completely as you silently count from 1 to 8.

  4. Try to get all the air out of your lungs by the time you count to 8.

  5. Repeat 4 to 8 times or until you feel calm.

  6. Notice how you feel | Repeat as necessary

5. SELF CARE

Take the time to dedicate to yourself! Whether it’s doing one of the things listed above or simply taking a nap when you have the extra time because it is what your body craves - listen to your intuition and take the time necessary for rest and recovery!

Benefits of consistent Floating

Your body remembers to let go and truly rest.

As you begin to Float regularly, your bod|mind become aclimated to the experience of slowing down and tuning in.

 Less Reactivity

No human is perfect, but we feel like one of the most noticable effects of Floating is that we are less likely to be easily reactive in stressful situations. It's a consistent effort and energy but with floating you are able to soften so many layers of the self

Physical Pain Management

Thanks the magnesium in 1000lbs of epsom salt and your body having the time/space to truly recover helps to reduce physical pain and with consistent floating you are able to notice these effects in the body regularly!

Float Therapy Tips

1. Drop all Expectations
First time floaters have all sorts of expectations which can lead to disappointment in themselves or the experience surrounding the First Float. We highly recommend that you go into your Float without expectations, allow yourself to be open to all experiences.

Taking the time in space to be present with yourself ; Body | Mind | Soul.

Why can this help?  Meditating or the idea of personal stillness can be downright challenging for some of us, and placing the expectation that you'll have no thoughts or that you'll be able to quiet that busy mind of yours for 90 minutes straight on the first try is not important to your experience in a Float pod. Float Therapy is a practice just like anything else you implement into your routine/lifestyle - the more you allow yourself to do it the easier and more routine it becomes for you.

[Every Float creates a different space for awareness and perception]

2.  R E L A X
Yes it sounds funny to say it out loud, but mentally preparing yourself to relax helps create a more intentional float experience!

Try taking a few minutes before your float to transition - honor the space you are presently and focus on what you hope to feel or perceive afterwards.  Create a small ritual of picking an Art of Attention card from our lobby, close your eyes and do some deep breathing, or simply repeat a mantra to yourself while you're showering off before your float.

"I am safe and content, creating this time for me to just be " is one simple idea you could roll with or simply focus on 1 word that keeps you inspired/connected!

June Rejuvenation

Living in Florida we are lucky to enjoy the sunshine and warmer weather 2/7! However there is something so rejuvenating to us about syncing into the rhythm of Summertime in the South.

As we take the steps to adjust to a summer pace we want to share a few of our favorite tips!

Stay Hydrated
Summer’s intense heat saps moisture from plants, the earth, and our bodies. That’s why it’s okay to add an extra pinch of salt in your food in the summer to compensate for sweating and to prevent fatigue. Also, drink at least 16-24 ounces of water per day

Eat Cooling Foods
Some of the best foods are leafy greens, coconut, cucumber, cantaloupe, and watermelon. Garnish salads and other dishes with cooling cilantro, parsley, and alfalfa sprouts, and avoid hot drinks, spicy food, alcohol, caffeine, and chilies.

Moisturize Daily
After showering, mix one teaspoon each of organic, unrefined coconut oil and castor oil in a glass bottle with a cap. Place the bottle in hot water until the oil is lukewarm (not hot!). Apply to your whole body to keep your skin supple, soft, and cool. You can also use this treatment before you swim to protect your skin from salt water or chlorine!

In wellness,
